Broadcast Approach for the Information Bottleneck Channel

This work considers a layered coding approach for efficient transmission of data over wireless block fading channel without transmitter state information (CSI), which is connected to limited capacity reliable link, known as the bottleneck channel. Two main approaches are considered, first an oblivious approach, where sampled noisy observations compressed and transmitted having any knowledge original codebook. The second non-oblivious decode-forward (DF) relay decoded, whatever successfully decoded reliably from destination has fixed C. We examine also case can dynamically change due variable loads on backhaul link. broadcast analyzed cases that only knows available next block, neither source nor know per its distribution. Fortunately, it possible analytically describe in closed form expressions, optimal continuous layering power distribution maximizes average achievable rate. Numerical results demonstrate rates.
